Outdoor-Handys gibt es ja mittlerweile schon einige aber wie schaut es bei den PDA-Handys aus? Auf diese frage hat Motorola mit dem MC5574 die passende Antwort.
Stürzte aus 1,2 Meter Höhe und auf hartem Beton übersteht es dank seines stabilen Kunstoffrahmens ebenso wie Staub und Spritzwasser. Wie bei den anderen Motorola PDAs, setzt auch hier Motorola auf Windows-Mobile als Betriebssystem. Das Motorola MC5574 kommt mit der gewohnten Qwert-Tastatur und dem QVGA-Touchscreen. Zwar unterstützt es nur GSM aber beinhaltet daneben noch WLAN (a/b/g) ebenso wie Bluetooth. Bescheiden gibt sich das Motorola MC5574 mit seinem 520 Mhz Prozessor und einem Speicher von 220 MB. Immerhin lässt sich der Speicher durch eine MicroSD-Karte ausbauen.
Die weiteren Ausstatttungsmerkmale sind eine 2-Megapixelkamera mit Autofocus-F und ein Scanner der wahlweise mit einem eindimensionalem Laser oder mit einem 2-D-Bildaufnehmer daher kommt. Das Bild rundet dann auch noch ein GPS-Empfänger ab. Abstriche muss man jedoch beim Gewicht machen, welche doch h etwas hoch aus fällt, ebenso bei der Datenübertragung die nur im EDGE-Mobilfunk daher geht und ein kompliziertes WLAN-Setup hat.
